Gestern habe ich nichts gemacht. Also nichts im Sinne von: Ich habe genau das gemacht, was ich machen wollte. Morgens die erste Kanne Tee gekocht, vom Bett aufs Sofa gewechselt, Feuchtwanger gelesen, ein, zwei Serienfolgen geguckt, weiter gelesen, noch eine Serienfolge, irgendwann zum standesgem\u00e4\u00dfen Mittagsschlaf weggenickt (vermutlich bei einer Serienfolge), n\u00e4chste Kanne Tee gekocht, zwischendurch ein paar Brote mit wahlweise Aprikosenkonfit\u00fcre oder K\u00e4se gegessen, gelesen, geguckt, Candy Crush gespielt, abends die K\u00fcche wieder auf Vordermann gebracht (aka Kr\u00fcmel wegwischen und abwaschen), am sp\u00e4ten Abend kam F. vorbei und es gab noch ein Bierchen zum Gespr\u00e4ch am K\u00fcchentisch. Gemeinsam eingeschlafen.<\/p>\n

This User-Friendly Menstrual Cup Is What Happens When Design Is Inclusive<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Generell eine schlaue Idee: auf Menschen h\u00f6ren, die nicht dem Standardaussehen entsprechen und die Standardf\u00e4higkeiten haben. <\/p>\n \u201eThe whole thing started with Jane Adame cursing to herself in the bathroom. \u201cIt has a very unglamorous origin,\u201d said Adame. \u201cJust standing in the bathroom swearing and injuring myself.\u201d<\/p>\n Adame was trying to remove a menstrual cup\u2014a small reusable cup to catch blood\u2014and it wasn\u2019t going well. A menstrual cup sits inside the vaginal canal, and if it\u2019s properly sized it should snugly hug the wall of the vagina. But that means in order to get the cup out, users have to be able to get their hand up into their vagina, deftly pinch the cup, and slowly pull it out, all without spilling the contents. Adame has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a connective-tissue disorder that often makes people’s joints unstable. When trying to take out the used cup requires a fair amount of both wrist flexibility and hand strength, Adame risks dislocating her joints. Not exactly something you ever want, but especially when you\u2019re trying to remove a container of blood from your body without spilling.<\/p>\n Here at Design Bias, a lot of what I do is tell you about how badly things are designed. For this installment of the column, I\u2019d like to show what\u2019s possible when previously excluded voices are included in the design process.
