Allerdings nur f\u00fcr die Leute auf der Insel: BBC2 strahlt morgen um 22 Uhr eine Aufzeichnung des herrlichen Musicals\/der wunderbaren Oper\/des grandiosen Spa\u00dfes Jerry Springer \u2013 The Opera<\/a><\/em> aus. <\/p>\n

Ich hatte das Gl\u00fcck, das St\u00fcck letztes<\/strike> vorletztes Jahr in London sehen zu k\u00f6nnen. Ich bin zuf\u00e4llig am Theater vorbeigelaufen, in dem es aufgef\u00fchrt wurde und war auch zuf\u00e4llig um die Mittagszeit da, wo eine halbe Stunde lang die komplette erste Reihe f\u00fcr relativ wenig Geld verkauft wurde, und habe mir deshalb eine Karte geg\u00f6nnt. Mehr dar\u00fcber hier<\/a> (bis zur Mitte scrollen, ja, muss sein, freut euch \u00fcber die Permalinks, die mir der Weihnachtsmann<\/a> gebracht hat, Kinders).<\/p>\n

Die Kirche in England findet das St\u00fcck ziemlich daneben und will daher die Ausstrahlung verhindern, wie der Guardian<\/em> schreibt<\/a>: <\/p>\n

The Rt Rev Nigel McCulloch, who speaks about broadcasting on behalf of the Church of England, complained that the BBC had refused to show him a tape of the show. (…)<\/p>\n

“I remain hopeful that the programme is not as described and the BBC will be mindful not only of its duties and responsibilities, but also to its repeated commitments on taste, decency, harm and offence in the past.”<\/p>\n

The opera is based on the voyeuristic American television show where dysfunctional families parade their differences and sexual proclivities before the host Jerry Springer. It has long been shown on British television. The fictionalised version, currently in the West End, has been praised by critics \u2013 the Guardian<\/em>‘s Michael Billington described it as “a mega hit … easily the hottest ticket in London”. In the second half, it features the burning fires of hell where Springer is confronted by God and the devil.<\/p>\n

The Radio Times has been boasting that the corporation’s switchboard faces meltdown this weekend and claimed the show contained 3,168 uses of the word fuck<\/em> and 297 references to cunt<\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ich gehe mal davon aus, dass die BBC das St\u00fcck trotzdem zeigt. Und wenn Herr Konstantin<\/a> es schafft, seinen Videorecorder zu programmieren, was er laut Eigenaussage seit eineinhalb Jahren nicht mehr gemacht hat, komme ich ein zweites Mal in den Genuss der Show.
